What Jounce adds to the bottom of every email
Short answer
Jounce adds your mailing address and an Unsubscribe link to the end of every email as it sends, so no design can leave them out. A small Jounce credit follows unless you turn it off on the Brand page.
Every marketing email must include the sender’s postal address and a way to unsubscribe. Jounce doesn’t count on each design to include them. As it sends, it writes a short footer under the last block of every email. It’s in small print and reads the same whatever design you used.
The footer is centered, unless your email ends on a closing layout set on the left, such as Sign-off on the left. Then the footer is set on the left too, lined up with it.
What’s in it
- Your mailing address, on one line, from the address saved as your default on the Address settings page. See Add your mailing address.
- Unsubscribe, an underlined link. Each reader gets their own. It opens a page that asks them to confirm, and pressing Yes, unsubscribe there takes them off your list. Jounce also gives the same link to the reader’s mail app, so the app’s own unsubscribe button works too, in one press. See The unsubscribe link and page. A new email sets it in a short sentence, No longer want these emails? Unsubscribe. You can change the words around the link or take them out. The link itself always stays. See Add your own words around the unsubscribe link.
- The Jounce credit, a small line at the very bottom that links to Jounce. If your email sits in a frame, it shows just below the frame. Its words can differ from one reader to the next. It reads Made with Jounce, Designed with Jounce, Crafted with Jounce, or Make yours with Jounce, while Jounce learns which one people like best. A test email and the editor’s preview show Made with Jounce. It goes out unless you turn it off: the Brand settings page has a switch, Show the Jounce credit. See Remove the Jounce credit.
A tap on Unsubscribe or on the Jounce line never counts as a click on your email.
Where it shows in the editor
In every email you create, the first two lines show under the last block as they’ll be sent. They aren’t blocks, so a click on them selects nothing.
In an email that opens in the earlier editor, the address block and the unsubscribe block at the bottom stand in for them. Their panels change how the lines look in the editor, not how the sent footer is set. See The address and unsubscribe blocks.
The confirmation email is different
The email that asks a new subscriber to confirm has no Unsubscribe link. That’s because the person hasn’t joined yet. Unsubscribing there would block their address before they could.
The confirmation email’s footer explains itself instead: Didn’t sign up? Ignore this email and you won’t be subscribed., then your address.
