Why does a block say it can’t be shown?
Short answer
The block uses a design Jounce no longer offers, so none of it shows. The rest of your email is fine: delete that block to send it.
The block uses a design Jounce no longer offers, so none of it shows. The rest of your email is fine. You can keep editing it, and it saves as usual.
What you see
In the editor, the block reads This block can’t be shown. Its design is missing. Select it, and the panel on the right says This block can’t be shown, then Its design is missing, so nothing shows here. The rest of the email is fine.
It’s also a line under Before you send, at the foot of the panel. It reads One block can’t be shown, or a count such as Two blocks can’t be shown.
Delete the block
- Select the block in your email, or select its line under Before you send. The panel shows Delete block.
- Select Delete block. Jounce says Block deleted and offers Undo, which puts the block back as it was.
Or select the block in your email and press the Delete or Backspace key.
What waits until you delete it
- Send test. In the top bar, Delete the block that can’t be shown to send a test sits where Send test was.
- Preview. It shows One block in this email can’t be shown, so it can’t be previewed yet. Delete that block, then preview again. Your draft is untouched instead of your email.
- Sending. On the Review step, a note reads Your email has a block with a missing design. Delete it in the editor. The send button stays off.
- An automation. A Send email step with this email shows the red line Your email has a block with a missing design. Launch waits until you delete the block.
If the email was already on its way
Jounce never sends an email that still holds the block. If yours was already on its way, Jounce stops it and says why.
- A scheduled email. It doesn’t go out at its time. Its results page says Your email has a block with a missing design. Delete it in the editor, then send again. No one was emailed. See Why did my send fail?
- An A/B test’s winner round, the send to the rest of your list. Its results page says Your email has a block with a missing design, so the winning subject didn’t go out. Only your test group got it. Delete that block, then finish sending to the rest. See Finish an A/B test that stopped.
- A live automation. Each subscriber who reaches that Send email step stops there. The step’s card reads Your email has a block with a missing design. Delete the block, then resume those subscribers. See Why did subscribers stop partway?
- Send test on a page opened earlier. If you opened the page before Jounce stopped offering the design, it still shows the block. Jounce says Your email has a block with a missing design, so the test didn’t go out. Reload the page to see the block, then delete it and send the test again.
