Link a whole block

Open Emails

The editor opens from any draft.

Short answer

Select the whole block and paste a web address under Block link, at the foot of the panel. Everything in the block, words and photos alike, opens that one address.

When you’re done, a click anywhere in the block opens one web address.

These steps are for every email you create. For an email that opens in the earlier editor, see the last section.

  1. Select the block. If a part of it was selected, press Esc, or select Block at the top of the panel. A block with one part shows Block link either way.
  2. Under Block link, at the foot of the panel, paste the address into the box and press Enter.

If the block already had links inside it, Jounce says Links inside this block open the block link instead. From then on, a button in that block opens the block link. Its panel shows a note where its Link box was, starting Every link in this block opens the block link.

Once the address is in, Link actions appears under it. A click can also add the reader to a segment, take them out of one, or set a custom field.

Not every layout has a Block link. A countdown has none, and neither does a list of links or a button on its own.

In a product grid, each product can open its own page instead.

  1. Select the product. Click inside its card but beside its photo and words, so the outline goes round the whole card.
  2. Under Link, at the top of the panel, paste the product’s address and press Enter.

A click on its photo, name or price then opens that page. Its words don’t turn into blue link text. A product with no link stays as it was. While the grid has a Block link, the block link wins and each product’s box shows the note in its place.

In Category tiles, each tile’s name is already its link. Select the name to set it. In the sent email, a click on the tile’s photo opens it too.

Clear the box under Block link. The buttons and links inside go back to their own addresses.

The toolbar’s Link button stays on. A link you add to words is kept, but the sent email opens the block link instead. See Why can’t I add a link to this text?

Note A block link needs a web address. Paste an email or phone link and the block stays unlinked. The panel says A block link needs a web address — email and phone links work on buttons and text instead.

In an email that opens in the earlier editor

There, Block link sits in the Block panel. Select the block, and select Block at the top of the panel if a part of it was selected. Then paste the address into the box under Block link.

Two things differ there:

  • Select a part inside a linked block and its panel says so: This section has a block link — everything in it opens that link.
  • While the box is filled, the toolbar’s Link button is grayed out.

Next step

To make the click add the reader to a segment, see Link actions.
