Why does my email say Partly sent?
Short answer
The send finished, but some of your list couldn’t be delivered to, a sending pause stopped it partway, or Jounce couldn’t confirm how far it got. The results page says how many went out, everyone who got it keeps it, and the email is saved.
Partly sent means the send is over and it reached some of your list but not all of it. Nothing is stuck. The people who got the email keep it, and your email is saved. The results page shows the numbers for the part that went out.
If the status label reads Sent and fewer people got it than your segment holds, nothing went wrong either. Jounce skipped the people who unsubscribed, bounced, complained, or never confirmed. See Why is Jounce skipping some people?
What the warning box says
Open the results page from the card. A warning box at the top counts the people who didn’t get the email, such as 3,120 people didn’t get this email. Under that, it tells one of three stories.
- 1,880 of 5,000 went out — the rest couldn’t be delivered. Jounce knows the count. Jounce couldn’t send the rest.
- Jounce paused this workspace’s sending. Sending was paused on this workspace while this email was going out, so Jounce stopped it where it was. It doesn’t send the rest once the pause ends. See Why is my sending paused?
- At least 1,880 emails went out. Jounce can’t confirm this email finished going out, so part of this audience may already have it. A send was interrupted, and the count is the least that went out, not the whole, so the box’s title starts Up to. If Jounce counted none, the page shows no numbers, just Partly sent and this line.
The page after you send shows the same line the moment it happens. When a pause stopped the send, that page reads 1,880 of 5,000 got it before it stopped, says sending was paused and the email can’t be sent again, and offers Get help under Back to emails.
Why you can’t resend to the rest
Jounce doesn’t keep a per-person list of who was reached in a send. So there is no way to pick out the people who missed it.
The box ends with Sending to this audience again would email those 1,880 a second time, and that is the whole of it. Sending the same email to the same audience is a new send to everyone.
If you need the rest to have it, Duplicate the email. Send the copy to a narrower audience you’re sure missed the email. See Duplicate an email.
An A/B test that stopped
A tested email wears Partly sent when the test group got it and the winner round, the send to the rest of your list, didn’t finish. This is the one case with a way to finish.
When the winner round stopped before it sent to anyone, the results page offers Review and finish to an Admin or Manager. A round can’t finish if it leaves out a segment that was deleted. Its box says It can’t be sent again. See Finish an A/B test that stopped and Why does my A/B test say Won’t finish?
Note A single person who didn’t get an email that went out fine is a different question. Their status on their subscriber page says why. See Why didn’t someone get my email?
