Link a video layout to your video
Short answer
To make a video layout’s play button open your video, select its picture and paste the video’s address under Link. A YouTube or Vimeo link also brings the video’s own picture.
When you’re done, a tap on the layout’s picture opens your video. With a YouTube or Vimeo link, the picture becomes the video’s own.
This works in every email you create. Three layouts show a headline, a button, and a picture with a play button on it. With no link, that play button opens nothing. For a video with nothing around it, see Add a video on its own.
- If your email has no video layout, add one. Select a +, pick the Intros tile, and choose a card under the heading Episodes and videos. See Add a block.
- Select the layout’s picture. The settings panel’s heading reads Block › Image.
- Under Link, paste your video’s address. Until you do, the box reads YouTube, Vimeo or any web address.
- Press Enter, or select elsewhere. For a YouTube or Vimeo link, Jounce swaps the layout’s sample photo for the video’s picture. It says Picture set from your video, and Undo beside it brings the old picture back.
The video’s picture
Jounce swaps the picture on its own in three cases. The spot is empty, it holds the layout’s sample photo, or it holds an earlier video’s picture. Any other picture stays, and Use the video’s picture appears under the box. Select it to swap.
Jounce saves the video’s picture to Your images. Zoom it, reposition it, or replace it like any photo, and the link stays. Jounce uses the video’s title as the picture’s description when it can read one. Check it under Advanced.
Any other web address is only a link: the picture stays as it is.
A short youtu.be link changes to the full youtube.com address, with the same start time and playlist. Jounce does this in every link box in the editor, since Gmail has sent emails with short youtu.be links to spam.
One link for the picture and the button
The picture and the layout’s button open the same link until each has its own. Set it on either one. A line under the box says so, such as The button opens this link too, until it has its own. To send the button somewhere else, select it and fill its own Link.
The picture’s link takes no Link actions. To use them, give the button a link of its own.
If the picture doesn’t arrive
The message reads Jounce couldn’t get that video’s picture. Your link is set. Add a picture of your own, or try again. The video is usually private or removed. To try again, select Use the video’s picture.
