Why won’t my image upload?

Open Emails

The editor opens from any draft.

Short answer

It’s usually the file’s type or size, and the message at the foot of the screen says which. Nothing was added, and your email is unchanged.

Jounce’s message names the reason. In every case, your email stays exactly as it was. Match it below.

That file isn’t an image. Choose a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP.

The file you picked isn’t a picture. A PDF, a document, or a video won’t go in an image spot. Export the picture as a PNG or JPG and try again. To share a PDF, link to it from your words instead. See Add a link to text.

That image is over the 10 MB limit.

The picture is too large. Most photo apps can export a smaller copy. A photo a few thousand pixels wide is plenty for email. Save a smaller version and upload that.

Jounce couldn’t convert that SVG.

Inboxes don’t show SVG files, so Jounce turns an SVG into a PNG before it uploads. This one couldn’t be converted. Export the picture as a PNG from the app that made it and upload that.

A related message says Jounce converted the SVG but the PNG came out over the limit. The fix is the same: export a PNG at a sensible size.

That image didn’t upload. Check your connection and try again.

The upload started but didn’t finish. Check that you’re online, then try again. If it keeps failing on one file, try a smaller export of it.

Note A finished upload is usually saved to Your images, and the same file uploaded again usually shows once, not twice. If the picture is already there, the upload worked. If it’s in your email but not there, upload it again. See The image picker.
