Add a video on its own

Open Emails

The editor opens from any draft.

Short answer

Select the + between two blocks, pick Videos, select the card, and paste your video’s address under Link. A YouTube or Vimeo link brings its picture, and the email can’t be sent until the video has a link and a picture.

When you’re done, your video’s picture runs the full width of the email with a play button on it. A tap opens the video. Nothing plays inside the email.

These steps are for every email you create. For an email that opens in the earlier editor, see the last section.

  1. Point at a block, or select it, then select the + at its top or bottom edge. The tray opens right there in the email.
  2. Pick the Videos tile. The panel shows the library on that group, under Choose a layout. Nothing is added yet.
  3. Select the group’s one card. The block is added with an empty spot that shows a play button over Your video, and the panel’s heading reads Block.
  4. Under Link, paste your video’s address. Until you do, the box reads YouTube, Vimeo or any web address.
  5. Press Enter, or select elsewhere. For a YouTube or Vimeo link, the video’s picture fills the spot, with a play button on it. Jounce says Picture set from your video, and Undo beside it empties the spot again.

If the settings panel is folded, select Settings at the right edge of the window to see the library.

A picture of your own

Any other web address is kept as the link, and the spot stays empty. Add a picture in the panel: drop a file on its upload area, or choose Browse images. Jounce draws the play button on it.

Before you send

Before you send lists a video that isn’t finished. With no picture, the line reads One picture is still empty. With a picture and no link, it reads One link still needs a destination. The email can’t be sent until both are in. See What an AI draft leaves to you.

A video on its own goes out as a picture, and one email can send only so many designs that way. Past the limit, the line reads Two designs too many go out as pictures, with the number to delete. Select the line, and Jounce selects the first of them. Delete that many, and the line goes.

On the Review step, the note reads Your email has too many designs that go out as pictures. Delete two of them in the editor.

The description

Readers who don’t see pictures get a description instead. When a link brings the picture, Jounce uses the video’s title, if it can read one. To change it, open Advanced at the foot of the panel. It appears once the picture is in. Left empty, the email says Watch the video.

Remove it

Select the picture in the email and press Delete or Backspace. The picture goes and the link stays. Jounce says Picture removed and offers Undo. Press again and the whole block goes, with Block deleted and Undo.

A video with a headline

The line at the top of the group, Videos with a headline are in Intros, opens Intros. Three layouts there add a headline and a button. See Link a video layout to your video. It also covers what to do when a video’s picture doesn’t arrive.

In an email that opens in the earlier editor

Pick the Video tile in the tray. See Add a video.
