Finish an A/B test that stopped

Open Emails

Results open from a sent email.

Short answer

If the winner round, the send to the rest of your list, stops before it sends to anyone, the email’s results page usually offers Review and finish. That button opens the page after you send, where Finish sending to the rest sends the winning subject to those still owed it.

When you’re done, the winning subject line is on its way to everyone outside the test group. Nobody gets the email twice.

The finish is offered only when Jounce can prove the winner round sent to no one before it stopped. If part of the round went out, there is no safe way to finish it. See Why does my A/B test say Won’t finish?

  1. Open the email’s results page. A warning box at the top counts the people who haven’t gotten the email yet. It says what stopped the round, with Review and finish under it.
  2. Select Review and finish. The page after you send opens and reads Partly sent. The page shows the same reason, and how many people, at most, were left when the test went out. Some people who joined since can get it too, so the real number can be a little higher.
  3. If the reason names a fix, do it first. For a missing postal address, Add your postal address is the main button. Finish sending to the rest sits under it as a link. Come back once your address is saved.
  4. Select Finish sending to the rest. The page reads Sending the winner and The subject with more clicks goes out in a moment.

You can leave the page. It changes to Sent on its own when the winner has gone out. If Jounce refuses the finish, the page says why and takes the button away.

Note Finishing is for Admins and Managers, like every send. An Editor sees the reason and Back to emails.

If there is no Review and finish

The round already reached some people, or Jounce can’t tell how far it got. Or the email leaves out a deleted segment. The warning box says so, and names the only way to send again.

Duplicate the email from its card menu, then send the copy. Anyone who already has the email would get it a second time, and the box says that too. See Duplicate an email.

If the email was deleted, the box reads The email for this A/B test is gone, so only your test group got it. There’s nothing left to send from here.
