Why does my countdown show zeros?

Open Emails

The editor opens from any draft.

Short answer

Its moment has passed: in every email you create, the timer then shows Ended and the date instead of zeros. Pick a future time under Ends; your email is untouched.

A countdown that’s out of time shows it. Your email is untouched. This is for every email you create. For an email that opens in the earlier editor, where a timer rests at zeros, see the last section.

The moment has passed

Once its moment has passed, a timer shows the date in place of zeros, most with the word Ended. Select the timer, and the panel says so: This time has passed, so the email shows “Ended” and the date. Pick a future time to count down again.

Pick a later date or time under Ends. Then check Timezone: a time in the wrong zone can be hours earlier than you meant. See Add a countdown timer.

Before you send lists it too, under Worth a look, as The countdown has already ended. The email can still go.

The reader opened it after the end

That’s the timer working. A sent countdown shows the true time left at each open, and the date once the moment passes. See How a countdown works in the inbox.

In an email that opens in the earlier editor

There, a timer shows zeros when there’s no time left to show. Select the timer and look under Schedule in the panel.

The moment has passed

With Type on Fixed, the panel reads This moment has already passed — the strip shows zeros until you pick a future time. Pick a later date or time under Ends, then check Timezone.

The duration is zero

With Type on Personalized, the panel reads Set a duration above zero, or the strip shows zeros the moment it opens. Put a number in Days, Hrs, Mins, or Secs.

The reader opened it after the end

A sent countdown rests at zeros after the moment passes. A Personalized timer counts from each reader’s first open. So someone who first opened the email a week ago sees zeros once their time is up.

The editor is behind

The editor shows the timer as it stood when you opened it, so it can be behind. Reload the editor to see where the timer really stands.
