Send new subscribers to a segment
Short answer
In the form’s editor, open Settings and under Where subscribers go, pick a segment or type a name to create one. Everyone who signs up through the form joins those segments.
When you’re done, every person who fills in the form is in the segments you chose, and their page in Audience shows them.
A segment is a saved group of subscribers. See What a segment is.
- Open Forms, select the form, and select Settings at the top right of the editor.
- Under Where subscribers go, select the box that reads Pick a segment or type to create one. Your segments appear as you type.
- Select a segment. It becomes a label in the box. Add as many as you like.
- To create a segment that doesn’t exist yet, type its name and press Enter. Jounce creates it and it appears on the Segments page too.
- To take a segment off the form, select the × on its label.
The change saves on its own a moment later. If it can’t, Jounce says Couldn’t save your segments — your form is safe.
What to expect
- Someone who signs up joins every segment on the list, even if they haven’t confirmed by email yet.
- A subscriber who fills in the form again joins these segments too. They keep the segments they were already in.
- An automation that starts with Subscriber is added to a segment takes in people who join one of these segments. Each person enters once. A new signup enters when they subscribe, or when they confirm if the form asks them to. Someone already Subscribed enters when they join the segment. See The trigger.
- A new signup also enters an automation that starts with Someone subscribes to a form on this form. If both automations send the same emails, pause the one that starts with the form, because the segment one also reaches people already on your list. See Pause an automation.
- A segment you delete drops off the form’s list. The form goes on adding people to the segments that remain.
A form made from a template or with AI starts with no segment, so its signups join your audience alone until you pick one here. See Create a form from a template.
Next step
When you write to them, pick the segment in Choose who gets your email.
