Get an email when someone signs up

Short answer

In the form’s Settings, the Notify me switch Email me when someone signs up starts on. Jounce emails the workspace owner at most once an hour per form, and each email ends with a link that stops them for every form.

When you’re done, the workspace owner gets an email when the form brings someone in, at most one an hour.

  1. Open Forms, select the form, and select Settings at the top right of the editor.
  2. Under Notify me, find Email me when someone signs up. It starts on for every form.
  3. Leave it on to get the emails, or switch it off to stop them. The change saves on its own a moment later.

Each form has its own switch. To stop every form’s emails at once, use the email itself.

Stop them from the email

Every signup email ends with Turn off these emails. The link works on a phone, and you don’t need to sign in.

  1. Select Turn off these emails at the end of a signup email. A page asks Turn off signup emails? Nothing is off yet.
  2. Select Turn off signup emails. The page says Signup emails are off.

That switches off Email me when someone signs up on every form in the workspace. A form you make later starts with it on. To get a form’s emails again, switch it back on in its Settings, on a computer.

An older email’s link changes nothing once signup emails go to someone else, such as a new owner. Its page says This link is out of date.

Note Use this link rather than marking a signup email as spam. A spam report also stops your import emails, your daily-limit emails and the Sending is paused email.

What arrives

  • The email goes to the workspace owner, whoever made the form. To send it to someone else, an Admin makes them the owner on the Members page.
  • Jounce sends it only once the owner has verified their email address, the one they sign in with. See Verify your email address.
  • Its subject names the form: New subscriber — Studio notes signup. It says who joined, or how many, and links to your audience. It ends with Turn off these emails and a link to this form, to switch off its emails alone.
  • The very first person to join a form gets their own subject: First subscriber — Studio notes signup.
  • Jounce sends at most one email per form an hour. If several people join in that hour, one email counts them: 3 new subscribers — Studio notes signup.
  • Each workspace has a daily limit on these emails, across all its forms. Once it’s reached, Jounce sends no more until midnight Pacific time, which may not be midnight where you are. Then each form’s next email counts everyone who joined meanwhile.
  • If the form asks people to confirm, the email comes once they click the confirmation link, not when they submit. See Ask people to confirm their subscription.
  • Switching it off stops the emails at once, including any that were waiting to be counted.
  • A deleted form sends none. Someone can still click their confirmation link after you delete the form. They join your list, and no email goes out.

If an email you expected is late or never came, see Why didn’t I get an email when someone signed up?.
