Test your form

Short answer

Open the live form from Share, fill it in with your own email address, and submit. A test is a real signup: you join your own audience and the counts move, so delete yourself afterwards if you’d rather not stay.

When you’re done, you’ve seen the form the way a visitor does, from the first field to the thank-you screen. If you ask people to confirm, you’ve seen the confirmation email too.

  1. Open the form and select Share. The form has to be live; a draft has no page to test.
  2. For a full page or a link-in-bio page, select Open in a new tab. For a pop-up or an inline form, select Preview in a new tab. It opens on a page of its own, not inside your website.
  3. Fill it in with your own email address and press the button. You see the thank-you screen, or land on your redirect page.
  4. Open Audience. You’re there as a subscriber: Subscribed or Unconfirmed, based on the form’s settings. If you asked people to confirm, check your inbox for the confirmation email.
  5. If you’d rather not stay on your own list, delete yourself; see Delete subscribers.

A test counts

A test signup is a real one. It adds to the form’s Submissions and joins you to the form’s segments. Nothing about the signup is marked as a test.

Once you’re Subscribed, Jounce emails the workspace owner about it too, unless you switched that off or the owner’s email address isn’t verified. At most one of those emails goes per form each hour. Signups in between arrive together in the next one.

While the owner’s address is unverified, Jounce sends no confirmation email either, so your test signup gets none. See Why is someone still Unconfirmed?

Testing a pop-up on your own site

The preview shows the form itself. To see the pop-up open over your page, open your website in a private browsing window.

A pop-up remembers a close or a signup in the browser where it happened. So in your everyday browser it may not show again. A private window sees it fresh every time. See How your pop-up behaves on your site.

Submitting again

The form accepts the same address more than once. A second signup with your address adds no second subscriber and doesn’t add to Submissions. Your name stays the same too, whatever you type in the name boxes.

Your other answers stay as they were. The form fills in only a field that was empty, such as a phone number you skipped. Deleting yourself in between doesn’t reset any of this. To see a brand-new signup again, use another address.

On a form that asks people to confirm, deleting yourself does change one thing. If you had confirmed, your next signup brings you back Unconfirmed. Jounce sends the confirmation email again. If you sign up again soon after, or many times, Jounce won’t send a new confirmation email each time.
