Make a field required

Short answer

Select the field and turn Required on in the settings panel, and a visitor can’t submit until it’s filled in. The email field is always required.

When you’re done, the form won’t send without an answer in that field.

  1. Select the field on the form. The settings panel’s heading shows its name, such as Form › Name on a pop-up.
  2. Turn Required on.

To let visitors skip the field again, turn the switch off.

On a full page that places the sign-up fields twice, the switch sits under Both sign-ups. One switch changes the field in both places.

The star

A red star after a label marks a required field. It shows while the form also has a field a visitor may skip. When every field on the form is required, none of them wears a star.

What a visitor sees

They select the button with the field empty. This field is required. shows under the box and the cursor lands in it. Nothing sends until every required field is filled in.

Email is always required

The email field has no Required switch. Select it and the panel shows the field switches instead. A signup that can’t reach the person isn’t a signup.

The checkbox can’t be required

The checkbox has no Required switch either. A visitor who leaves it unchecked still submits.

Next step

See the star and the check as a visitor does: Test your form.
