Launch an automation

Short answer

Open the automation and select Launch in the top bar. The status turns Live, and from then on anyone who sets off the trigger enters.

When you’re done, the automation is live. From that moment, anyone who sets off its trigger enters and moves through the steps.

  1. Open Automations and select the automation. The builder opens, and the status label in the top bar reads Draft.
  2. Select Launch, beside the label.
  3. If a step still needs a choice, a message names the first one to fix and how many more remain. Fix them, then select Launch again. See What Launch checks.
  4. If you haven’t verified your email yet, a window opens instead: Verify your email to launch. Open the link Jounce sent you, select I’ve verified, then select Launch again. Jounce doesn’t launch on its own.
  5. If the automation has a Send email step and no postal address is on file, a window opens: Add your postal address. Fill in your address, select Save address, then select Launch again.
  6. The label reads Live, and a message says Your automation is live. It runs on its own from here.

A draft automation's top bar, with Undo, Redo, and the Draft label before the Launch button, ringed at the right.

What to expect

Launching starts the watch on the trigger. From this moment, someone who subscribes through the form or is added to the segment enters. Anyone already in the segment doesn’t, and neither does anyone who subscribed earlier. See How subscribers move through an automation.

If the label reads Ready instead of Live, Jounce has switched automations off for now, for everyone who uses Jounce. Nobody new enters, and the people inside wait where they are. Anyone who subscribes or joins the segment during that time doesn’t enter later.

The people inside pick up on their own once Jounce switches automations back on, and the label turns Live.

You can keep editing after you launch. The line under the top bar says what your changes do to the people inside. See Editing a live automation.

Who can launch

Admins and Managers see Launch. An Editor sees the status label alone.

Next step

Once people enter, see Open an automation’s insights. It shows who entered and how each email did. To stop the automation for a while, see Pause an automation.
