Why didn’t someone go down the Yes branch?
Short answer
Most often the time isn’t up yet: Open the email decides only when the timeframe ends. Also, a Condition with no Send email step above it sends everyone down No.
They’re still in the automation, and nothing has been sent twice. A Condition sends people down No for one of four reasons; check each against your step.
The time isn’t up. Open the email waits for the whole timeframe before it decides. That’s true even when the open came on day one. Only Click a link in the email moves people down Yes the moment it happens. Look at the card: Opened the email within 7 days? means a week of waiting for everyone.
There’s nothing to watch. Open the email and Click a link in the email check the nearest Send email step above the Condition. With no Send email step above it, everyone goes down No when the time runs out. Move the Condition below the email it should watch.
The open wasn’t recorded. An open counts only when a person’s mail app loads the pictures in the email. Some apps never do. A click counts when they select a link in that email. See How Jounce counts opens, clicks, and bounces.
Filters are checked on arrival. Meet certain filter conditions looks just once, when a subscriber gets to the step. A segment you added them to afterwards doesn’t count. For a question about what they do next, use Open the email or Click a link in the email instead.
If they went down neither branch, they stopped at the Condition. That happens when its filters check a deleted segment. The card then reads Replace the deleted segment in this condition. See The Condition step.
Fix the step, and the fix applies to everyone who reaches it from then on. People already past it stay on the path they took.
