Zoom and move around your steps
Short answer
The buttons at the bottom left zoom in and out and fit the whole automation in view. Scroll to move around, or hold the space bar and drag.
When you’re done, the part of the automation you want to work on fills the screen, or the whole automation does.
Zoom
-
Select − or + in the zoom controls at the bottom left. The number between them is the zoom.
-
Select the number itself to return to 100%.
-
Select Fit to view, the last button in the zoom controls, to see the whole automation at once.

On a trackpad, pinch to zoom around the spot under your fingers.
Zoom in on one step
Select a step while the zoom reads under 100%. Jounce zooms to 100%, puts that step in the middle of the canvas, and opens its panel on the right.
At 100%, the zoom stays. With Fit to view on, the step still moves to the middle if the whole automation no longer fits beside the panel.
The step stays in the middle while its panel is open, even as you resize the window. That ends when you zoom or move the canvas yourself, select Fit to view, or select another step.
Closing the panel leaves the canvas where it is. To see the whole automation again, select Fit to view.
Move
- Scroll in any direction with a trackpad or a mouse wheel.
- Hold the space bar and drag anywhere on the canvas. The pointer becomes a hand.
- Drag with the middle mouse button.
If you’ve been moving between buttons with the Tab key, the space bar presses the button you’re on. To drag instead, select the empty canvas first, then hold the space bar.
Keyboard
| Do | Mac | Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Zoom in | ⌘ + | Ctrl + |
| Zoom out | ⌘ − | Ctrl − |
| Back to 100% | ⌘ 0 | Ctrl 0 |
| Fit to view | Shift 1 | Shift 1 |
The shortcuts wait while you’re typing in a field.
Fit to view stays on
Fit to view stays on, and its button stays lit, until you zoom or move the canvas yourself. Rest your pointer on the button and it says Keeping the flow in view — pan or zoom to take over. It switches off too when selecting a step moves that step to the middle.
While it’s on, Jounce keeps the whole automation in view as you add steps, open branches, and close a panel.
Once it’s off, the canvas holds still. At 100% or more, selecting a step leaves the zoom alone. The canvas moves only enough to keep that step on screen. Select Fit to view again to switch it back on.
Next step
To add a step at any +, see The Add a step menu; the rest of the screen is in The automation builder.
