Why can’t I delete an automation?

Short answer

Your role in the workspace is Editor. Only Managers and Admins see Delete automation in an automation’s menu, so ask a manager to delete it or to change your role.

Nothing is broken. The menu on an automation’s card shows Delete automation to Managers and Admins. If your role in this workspace is Editor, that row doesn’t appear; Edit, View insights, and Duplicate still do.

As an Editor you can still build a draft, rename any automation, duplicate one, and read its results. Deleting, launching, and pausing are kept for managers, because each one changes what your subscribers get. In an open automation, an Editor sees only the status label. A manager also sees Launch, Pause, or Relaunch beside it.

To delete the automation, ask a Manager or Admin in your workspace. To see who holds which role, or to ask for a different one, see Workspace roles.

If you see the row and the delete fails

The window stays open and says Couldn’t delete the automation. Nothing was removed — try again. The automation is still in your list. Try once more. If it keeps failing, refresh the page and try again. See Delete an automation.
