The builder
The screen where you build an automation. It covers the canvas of step cards, the panel for each step, the emails a step sends, saving and undo, and editing while it’s live.
- The automation builderOpen an automation and its steps fill the screen as cards on a canvas, the area your steps sit on. The top bar holds the name, Undo, Redo, and Launch, a step’s settings open in a panel on the right, and the zoom buttons sit at the bottom left.
- The Add a step menuSelect any + on the canvas and the Add a step menu opens with the kinds of step you can add there. The new card appears where the + was, and its panel opens on the right.
- Delete a stepPoint at the card and select the trash icon at its top-right corner. Then choose Delete step in the window that names the step; Undo in the top bar brings it back.
- Zoom and move around your stepsThe buttons at the bottom left zoom in and out and fit the whole automation in view. Scroll to move around, or hold the space bar and drag.
- Create a new email for a stepSelect the Send email step, choose Create a new email, and pick a template. The editor opens; Done brings you back to the step with the email in place.
- Duplicate an existing email for a stepSelect the Send email step, choose Duplicate an existing email, and pick one of your emails on the page that opens. Jounce copies it for this step, and the original stays as it was.
- Edit an automation’s emailSelect the Send email step, then the email’s picture in its panel. The editor opens, Done takes you back to the step, and your edits change only this automation’s copy.
- Saving and undo in the builderEvery change to the steps saves on its own a moment after you make it, so there is no save button. Undo and Redo are the two arrows in the top bar, and a label shows at the bottom right only if a save fails.
- Editing a live automationChange the steps, and new subscribers get your changes while people already inside finish the path they started on. Change an email, and it reaches everyone that step hasn’t sent to yet.
- Why can’t I change the steps of my automation? The automation is live and your workspace role is Editor, so the + and the trash icon are hidden. The line under the bar says an admin or manager can change its steps, and nothing you did was lost.
- Why isn’t my automation’s email on the Emails page?An email made for a step belongs to that automation, so it never appears on the Emails page, in the calendar, or in a folder. Open the automation and select the step to find it.
- Why does it say my changes didn’t save?Your automation is safe as it was last saved, and the message Jounce showed says what happened. If it says Jounce couldn’t save your last change, copy any words you typed, refresh the page, and redo the change.
