Automation statuses
Short answer
Each automation has one status that says if it’s running: Draft, Live, Paused, or, rarely, Ready. You see the same status on the card, in the list, in the Status menu, and in the automation’s top bar.
A status says whether the automation is running. It’s a fact, not a judgment. One label shows it everywhere the automation appears, so the card, the list row, the Status menu, and the automation’s own top bar always agree.
The statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not launched. Nobody enters it, and nothing sends. Every new automation starts here. |
| Live | Running. When someone sets off its trigger, they enter and move through the steps. The label’s dot pulses. |
| Paused | You pressed Pause. Nobody new enters. The people inside wait where they are, and so do their emails, until you press Relaunch. |
| Ready | Launched, but Jounce has switched automations off for now, for everyone who uses Jounce. Nobody new enters, and the people inside wait where they are. Anyone who subscribes or joins the segment during that time doesn’t enter later. The people inside pick up on their own once Jounce switches automations back on, and the label reads Live again. |
Launch, Pause, and Relaunch sit in the automation’s top bar. Managers and Admins see them; Editors see the label alone. See Workspace roles.
In it now
The card’s in it now line and the list’s In it now column count the people inside the automation right now. They are waiting at a step, such as a Time delay or a Condition, or on their way to the next one. Someone who has finished, or left, isn’t counted.
Each subscriber goes through an automation once. They enter the moment its trigger happens, and they never enter the same automation again. It doesn’t start over for them if they subscribe to the form again, rejoin the segment, or you relaunch it.
A copy of the automation is a new automation, so they can enter that one. See Duplicate an automation.
A draft has never run, so it has no count. See Why doesn’t my automation show how many people are in it?
