Why do my automation’s numbers show a dash?
Short answer
A dash means there is no real number to show yet, and your automation keeps running either way. The usual reason is a step that hasn’t sent, or an automation that sent before Jounce counted its sends.
A dash is never a zero. It means Jounce has no real number to show in that spot. Your automation keeps sending, and Jounce counts every number it can.
A step nobody has reached
In the Performance by step table, a step that hasn’t sent shows 0 under Sent and a dash for each rate. That’s because there is nothing to divide yet. The row fills in as people reach the step.
The automation sent before Jounce counted its sends
Jounce started counting automation sends after it started counting opens and clicks. So an automation that was running before then can show opens with no send count behind them.
Its page shows a dash for Emails sent, Open rate, and Click rate, and the line under the cards shows dashes too. A note explains: Jounce started counting sends after some of this mail went out, so totals and rates aren’t shown yet.
The dashes clear once Jounce counts those earlier sends. There’s nothing for you to do.
The counts of opens and clicks under each card are still true, and the people numbers in the first three cards are complete. Jounce shows a dash rather than a rate it can’t stand behind.
Bounces and complaints on an older automation
The Bounces and Complaints rates cover the sends Jounce tracked for them. If an automation sent mail before that tracking began, a note gives the date. The two rates cover only sends after that date. Jounce still noticed any mail sent to a bad address. Bounced addresses are stopped either way. See How Jounce counts an automation’s numbers.
A dash on the Automations page instead
The In it now column on the Automations page has its own reasons for a dash. See Why doesn’t my automation show how many people are in it?
