Saving and undo in the builder

Short answer

Every change to the steps saves on its own a moment after you make it, so there is no save button. Undo and Redo are the two arrows in the top bar, and a label shows at the bottom right only if a save fails.

There is no save button. Add a step, change a setting in a panel, or delete a card, and it saves a moment after you stop. The automation’s name saves as you type it. Leave by Automations at the top left and any change still waiting goes with you.

The top bar of an open automation, with the Undo and Redo arrows ringed beside the Draft label and Launch.

If a save fails

Nothing on the screen reads Saving… or Saved. Jounce saves in the background and speaks up only when a save fails.

Then a label at the bottom right of the canvas reads Couldn’t save, and Jounce says what to do. The change is only on your screen until it saves. See Why does it say my changes didn’t save?

The label tracks the steps and the automation’s name. It also tracks the email’s Sender name, Subject, and Preview text rows in a Send email step’s panel.

If you close or refresh the tab while a change is still saving, your browser asks whether you want to leave. Once the change has saved, it won’t.

If you go offline

A note at the bottom left says Offline — edits stored on this device. Keep working. Each change waits on this computer until you’re back online. Then your changes reach Jounce on their own, and Jounce says Back online. Everything synced. once they have.

Your waiting changes still reach Jounce if you close the tab first and open Jounce again later on this browser. Signing out clears them, and so does closing a private window. See Sign out of Jounce.

Undo and redo

The two arrows in the top bar, left of the status, step back and forward through changes to the steps. A card added or deleted, a choice made in a panel, and steps moved into a branch all count.

Undo is ⌘Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows. Redo is ⇧⌘Z or Ctrl+Shift+Z. Changes made within a moment of each other count as one undo. Undo closes the open panel. You can redo an undone change until you make a new one.

Three things have a history of their own and don’t undo here:

  • The automation’s name.
  • The email’s Sender name, Subject, and Preview text rows. They belong to the email, not the step.
  • Changes made in the email editor, which has its own Undo. See How the editor saves your work.
