Why does my segment show fewer people than I added?
Short answer
A segment’s card counts only the people in it marked Subscribed, because they’re the ones Jounce can send to. People marked Unconfirmed, Unsubscribed, Bounced, or Complained are still in the segment, just not counted.
Nothing is missing. Everyone you added is still in the segment. The card counts only the ones Jounce can send to.
How the number is made
The line under a segment’s name counts its members whose status is Subscribed. The All subscribers card shows the same rule with both numbers: 9 subscribers · 14 total means nine can be sent to, out of fourteen on the list.
See who isn’t counted
- Select the segment’s card. The Subscribers page opens with the Segment menu set to it.
- Open the Status menu and pick each status in turn. The list shows the segment’s people with that status. The menu’s counts are for your whole list.
Someone marked Unconfirmed hasn’t opened their confirmation link yet. For them, see Resend a confirmation email. Jounce can’t send to anyone Unsubscribed, Bounced, or Complained. Subscriber statuses explains each one.
If they came from an import
Two other things can shrink the number after a CSV import. A row Jounce set aside never joined your list; see Why were some rows rejected? And someone who was already on your list keeps their status. So a person who had unsubscribed or bounced joins the segment but isn’t counted; see When an email already exists.
A send counts the same way
The recipients step counts the people your email will reach, so its number matches the card, not how many names you imported.
