Add a custom field while importing
Short answer
On Match your columns, set a column’s Maps to field to Create new field…, name it, and select Create field. The column maps to it and the field shows on every subscriber’s page.
When you’re done, the column becomes a field of its own on each person’s page. The field stays for every later import.
- On Match your columns, find the column. Under Maps to, choose Create new field…. A dialog called Create a field opens.
- Type the field’s name, such as Birthday.
- Select Create field. The dialog closes and the column maps to your field.
Type the name of a field you already have, and the column maps to that field. Jounce doesn’t make a second one. It ignores capitals, spaces, hyphens, and underscores, so job-title finds a field called Job Title. Name a new field Company, Job Title, Industry, Street Address, or Phone number, and it’s the field your forms fill in.
Cancel closes the dialog without making a field. The column stays as it was.
Where the field shows
Every person the import adds gets the column’s value under that field on their page. From then on the field appears in the Maps to list. Next time, a column whose header matches its name maps to it on its own.
Note With Update their details and keep their history, the file’s value replaces the old one for someone already on your list.
Names Jounce refuses
A name Jounce keeps for itself, such as First name or Email, can’t be a custom field. Spacing and capitals don’t change that: first_name is refused too. Under the name, the dialog says That name belongs to a built-in field — pick another. It stays open so you can try a different one.
A column called First name or Email maps to the built-in field under Maps to instead. See Custom fields.
A workspace can keep up to 25 custom fields. Past that, Jounce says You can keep up to 25 custom fields. Remove one to add another.
The dialog also refuses a field Jounce is still deleting from every subscriber. Under the name, it says That field is still being deleted. Add it again once that’s done.
Next step
To finish the import, go back to Import subscribers from a CSV file. Pick up at the choice for existing emails.
