Why aren’t imported subscribers in the segments from my file?
Short answer
A Segments column only adds people to segments you already have, spelled the same. Create the segment, then import the file again with Update their details and keep their history.
Jounce matches each name in your Segments column to a segment you already have. A column called Tags, Tag, Group, or List counts as that column too. If Jounce can’t find a name, it skips it without a warning. The people are on your list. They just aren’t in that segment.
The fix
- Open Audience, then Segments, and create a segment for each name in your file. Capitals don’t matter, but the spelling does.
- Import the same file again. On Match your columns, keep the choice Update their details and keep their history.
- Everyone in the file joins the segments named in their row. Nobody is added twice. Everyone stays in the segments they were already in.
Two other things to check
- The separator. Put a colon between segments in one cell, like
VIP:Newsletter. Prepare your CSV file lists the other separators Jounce reads. - The import’s own segment. Every import lands in a dated segment. The exception is when you cleared the name on Add them to a segment. Then the batch has no group of its own, and only the names from the file apply.
