Add a custom field
Short answer
On a subscriber’s page, select Add custom field, type a name, and select Add field. The field appears here with the cursor in it, and empty on every other subscriber’s page.
When you’re done, the field is part of your workspace. It shows on this person’s page with the cursor in it, ready for a value. On everyone else’s page it shows empty. Every role can add one.

- Open Audience and select a person’s name. Their page opens.
- Select Add custom field, under the last field in the card on the left. The Add custom field dialog opens.
- Type the name under Field name, such as Birthday.
- Select Add field, or press Enter. The dialog closes and the cursor lands in the new field.
- Type this person’s value and leave the field. Jounce saves it.
Cancel closes the dialog without adding anything.
Names Jounce refuses
- A name Jounce keeps for itself, such as First name or Email. Spacing and capitals don’t change that: first_name is refused too. Jounce says That name belongs to a built-in field — pick another under the name. The dialog stays open for a different one.
- The 26th field. Jounce says You can keep up to 25 custom fields. Remove one to add another. To remove one, see Delete a custom field.
- A field Jounce is still deleting from every subscriber. Jounce says That field is still being deleted. Add it again once that’s done under the name.
If Jounce can’t save the field, it says Couldn’t add that field — try again. The name stays in the box, so select Add field again.
Capitals, spaces, hyphens, and underscores don’t make a name different: Job Title and job-title are the same field. When you type the name of a field you already have, Jounce says That field already exists. The dialog closes and the cursor lands in that field, ready for a value.
If you add Company, Job Title, Industry, Street Address, or Phone number, it’s the field your forms fill in. See Custom fields.
Next step
Fill it for many people at once with Import subscribers from a CSV file, then filter by what it holds.
