Why can’t I invite someone?

Short answer

Either you’re not an admin of this workspace, or Jounce refused the address and said why in the dialog. The fix is usually one step.

Inviting is an admin’s job, and Jounce checks the address before it sends. When it refuses, the sentence under the role list says what happened and what to do. If the invite went out and the person never got it, see Why didn’t they get my invite email?

There’s no Invite button

Check the workspace name in the account menu first; the Members page belongs to the workspace you’re in. If it’s the right one, you’re a Manager or an Editor there, and only admins invite people. Ask an admin to send the invite, or to make you an admin.

Your role shows under your email in the account menu. See Workspace roles.

Verify your email to invite

You signed up with an email address and haven’t verified it yet. An invite goes out in your name, so Jounce confirms it’s really you. The dialog offers Didn’t get it? Resend and I’ve verified, so you can finish without leaving the page. See Verify your email address.

That person is already a member of this workspace

They’re in the member list above. If they can’t see the workspace, they can switch to it from the account menu. Typed your own address? Jounce says You’re already in this workspace.

An invite for that address is already pending

They’re in the Pending invites list. Use Resend there for a fresh link, or Copy link to hand it over yourself. See Resend or revoke an invite.

Mail to that address bounced permanently

That mailbox rejected mail for good. Check the spelling, or ask them for a different address.

Invites are capped, or an invite went out a moment ago

Jounce limits how many invites go out in an hour, and how many one address can get in a day. The message says what to do next. An invite already pending still works, so the person can use it while you wait.

Invites are switched off across Jounce

Jounce paused all invites for a short time. Links already sent keep working. Try again later.
