Why can’t I change the public address?
Short answer
Usually your role is Editor: only Admins and Managers set the handle, because changing it moves every published link. If Save handle asks you to verify your email, open the link Jounce sent you first.
The Public address page shows you the address but no box to change it. The line under Your handle reads Admins and managers change the public address. That means your role in this workspace is Editor. Nothing is wrong with the address, and it’s the same for everyone in the workspace.
A handle change moves every published link to a new address, so Jounce leaves it to the people who can also publish. Editors draft and edit. See Workspace roles. The Your address box in a page’s Share dialog follows the same rule, so an Editor doesn’t see it there either.
What to do
- Ask an Admin or a Manager in your workspace to set the handle. The steps are in Claim your handle.
- Or ask an Admin to make you a Manager on the Members page. Then reload the Public address page and the box appears.
The box is there, but a window asks you to verify
Save handle opens Verify your email to set your public address. You signed up with an email and a password and haven’t verified it yet. Your current address is unchanged.
Open the link Jounce sent you, select I’ve verified, then select Save handle again. Didn’t get it? Resend in the window sends a fresh link. Claim address in a page’s Share dialog asks the same way. See Verify your email address.
The box is there, but the save fails
If the line under the box reads Only workspace admins and managers can do this., your role changed to Editor while the page was open. Your current address is unchanged. Reload the page to see it the way your role does.
