How settings save

Short answer

Settings save on their own: Jounce saves a moment after you change something and shows Saved at the bottom right. The one exception is the Brand page’s kit, which waits for Save kit.

Every settings page saves on its own, except the kit on the Brand page. Change a field and click away or press Tab. A moment later Jounce saves it and tells you at the bottom right of the window.

  • Saving… while the write is on its way.
  • Saved once it’s done. It fades out after a moment.
  • Couldn’t save if it didn’t go through. It stays on the page until your next change.

A switch on the Brand or Address page saves at once, with no wait. So does the privacy policy link on the Address page, once you leave the field. The time zone pick on the Basics page waits the same moment as a field.

The Brand page’s kit

Your colors, fonts, shape, logo, and social links make up your kit, and they wait for Save kit at the bottom of the Brand page. Unsaved changes shows beside it while you have edits to keep. After a save, Jounce says Kit saved. New emails use it, with Undo beside it.

Leave the page before saving and Jounce asks Discard your edits? first. Switching workspaces and signing out ask the same question. Close the tab before saving and your browser asks its own question.

If a teammate or another tab saved the kit after you opened the page, Jounce won’t save over it. It says Your brand kit changed since you opened this page and offers Reload. The Brand profile and the switches on the Brand page save on their own, like every other setting.

A save belongs to the workspace you made it in. Switch workspaces while a save is still working and Jounce asks Discard your edits? first. Go on, and if the save hadn’t landed Jounce says The kit didn’t save before you switched workspaces. Switch back and make your edits again.

Going to another page

Go to another page right after a change and Jounce saves it on your way out. On another settings page, the bottom right shows how it went: Saving…, then Saved or Couldn’t save. If it says Couldn’t save, go back and change the field again.

Leave settings altogether and the change still saves, though you may not see Saved for it.

Reloading or closing the tab

If you reload or close the tab while a change is still saving, your browser asks whether you want to leave.

A change you made a moment before goes out at once, and the browser asks about that one too. After Couldn’t save, it asks until a later change goes through. Once everything has saved, it won’t. It asks only about changes made on the page you’re on.

Signing out

Sign out right after a change and Jounce sends it first. If it’s still on its way a moment later, Jounce asks before signing you out. See Sign out of Jounce.

What counts as a change

A required field you’ve emptied isn’t saved. The field says it’s required, and the last saved value stands. The Address page saves only a complete address, with all five fields filled.

Which pages

These pages save this way:

  • Basics and Address.
  • The From name on the Sending page.
  • The Brand profile and the switches on the Brand page.
  • The workspace name on the Members page.

The Emails from Jounce page saves its own way; see The Emails from Jounce page.

If it says Couldn’t save

Change the field again and Jounce tries again. Your other settings are untouched. Reload the page to see what Jounce has. If the browser asks whether you want to leave, that’s because the change wasn’t saved.
