Why is there a handle I didn’t pick?

Short answer

Your workspace has no handle saved, so Jounce suggests one you can keep or replace. It isn’t yours until you select Save handle.

The box on the Public address page opens with two words and a number, something like amber-harbor-40213, when your workspace hasn’t saved a handle. Jounce suggests one so you can publish a page without stopping to name it.

Nothing is saved yet. Your pages still live at the longer address on Jounce’s own site. An Editor opening the page reads No handle yet. See Your page’s address.

The suggestion changes each time the page opens. Only a saved handle stays. Your address in the Share dialog opens with a suggestion the same way, and publishing the page saves it. See Claim your handle.

To keep it

Jounce has already checked the suggestion, so it reads Available. Select Save handle. In its place you see Saved — your address is, then the handle with .myjounce.com.

To use your own

Type over the suggestion. Jounce checks what you type and shows Save handle once it reads Available. The steps are in Claim your handle.
