What the Forms tab counts
Short answer
A view is a visit to a live form, and a submission is a new person who joined through it. Both are counted on the day they happen, and the tab adds up the days inside the time range.
The tab adds up the views and submissions of every form in the workspace, day by day, inside the time range. It is a total across your forms, not an average. The Forms page counts the same things over all time; see Which numbers follow the time range.
A view
- A view is one visit to a live form: your page link, a form on your own site, or a pop-up. Only a Live form counts; a Draft can’t be seen. See Draft and live.
- A pop-up counts when it opens, not when the page it sits on loads. See How your pop-up behaves on your site.
- An inline form counts when it loads, as the visitor scrolls near it, not when the page loads. A form near the top loads with the page.
- If the same person sees the form again soon after, it counts once. If they come back later, it counts again.
- Your own visits count too, including a test.
- One internet address can add 60 views of a form in 10 minutes. Views past that don’t count, but the visitor still sees the form.
- A new view can take a few seconds to show here.
A submission
- A submission is a new person joining your audience through the form. It counts the moment they join, whether or not they have confirmed yet.
- Someone whose address is already in your audience is updated, not added, so they don’t count. See What happens when someone submits.
- A submission that looks like it came from a program rather than a person adds nobody to your audience, so it doesn’t count.
- People you add by hand, import from a file, or add through the API never count here. Only a form does.
- A test signup with a fresh address counts like any other. See Test your form.
The days and the range
Each view and submission is counted on the day it happened. Days start and end at midnight Pacific time, which may not be your local midnight. The range picks which days to add up, and the period just before it gives the change under the cards.
Jounce began counting views and submissions on a set day. That’s what Newly tracked in the ⓘ means. Anything earlier isn’t here.
What a form’s status changes
Unpublishing a form keeps everything it counted. Its row in Your forms turns to Draft, with the views and submissions it collected in the range still beside it. Publishing again adds to the same numbers.
Deleting a form removes its row and takes it out of Published forms. The views and submissions it collected stay in the cards and the chart, so your totals don’t fall when you tidy up.
Conversion rate
Conversion rate is submissions divided by views, both for the range. It shows a dash until there are views to divide by. It also shows a dash when submissions outnumber views, so it never reads above 100%. See Why are my form’s numbers blank?
