Why is Submissions lower than the signups I got?
Short answer
Submissions counts only new people who joined through a form in the time range. Earlier signups, returning addresses, and people added another way aren’t in it, but everyone who signed up is still in your audience.
Submissions counts new people who joined through a form inside the time range. Everyone who signed up is in your audience whatever the card says; open Audience to see them. The count is lower for one of these reasons.
They signed up before the range
The tab counts only the days inside the range you pick at the top right, and the page opens on the last 30 days. Pick a longer one; 12 months is the longest. For everything since a form went live, use the list on the Forms page. See Choose a time range.
They were already in your audience
A returning address is updated, not added, so it doesn’t count as a submission. Someone who signed up twice, or who was on your list before they found the form, counts once at most. See What happens when someone submits.
They came another way
Only a form counts here. People you added by hand, imported from a file, or added through the API are in your audience but never in Submissions. Each person’s page says how they arrived; see Where a subscriber came from.
They signed up before Jounce began counting
The ⓘ on the card reads Newly tracked, so the count builds as submissions come in. Jounce began counting on a set day, and signups before it aren’t here. They are still in your audience.
The submission looked automated
A submission from a program rather than a person adds nobody to your audience, so it isn’t counted. If a real person’s signup is missing from your audience too, see Why didn’t a signup show up in my audience?
The numbers are a minute old
A signup from a moment ago can take about a minute to count. Jounce also keeps showing the numbers it already fetched for about a minute. Reload the page once a minute has passed. See Why are my Analytics numbers behind?
