Why did New subscribers jump?
Short answer
An import counts everyone it added as joined on that day, so one file makes one tall bar. A drop has the same shape in reverse: deleting people takes them off the day they joined.
A tall bar is almost always an import. Jounce counts everyone a file adds as joined on the day the import ran, so a file of 400 people is one bar of 400.
People you add by hand show the same way, as Added manually under Subscribers by source. Nothing is wrong, and your list is as you left it.
When the number went down
Deleting people takes them off the day they joined. So a past period can shrink after a clean-up. Your chart shows who is on your list today, by the day they arrived. If you import someone you deleted, they come back on the day they first joined, unless you chose Skip them in the import. See Delete subscribers.
When the arrow turned red
The line under New subscribers compares the range with the same length of time before it. A big import in the earlier period makes a normal period after it look like a fall, such as −70% vs prior 30 days. Pick 90 days or 12 months to see the import as one bar among many.
Only people who joined in the range count. Rows a file rejected were never added, so they don’t count. See How Jounce counts new subscribers.
