Why did nobody get my email?

Short answer

The email’s status label on Emails says whether it went out, and the results page says why when Jounce is holding it. Sent means it went, so the inbox is where to look next.

Either the email hasn’t gone out yet, or it went out and landed somewhere other than the inbox. The status label on its card tells you which, and your email is saved either way.

Read the label

Open Emails and find the email. The label on its card is the answer.

The label reads What it means
Scheduled It goes out at the time you picked. The card’s line names the moment.
Sending It’s going out to your list. A big send takes a while, and the page after you send counts as it goes.
Sending paused Sending is paused on this workspace, and nothing has gone out. See Why is my sending paused?.
Sending later Your list is warming up, and its daily limit has no room for this email yet. It goes out by itself once there’s room. See Why can’t I email my whole list yet?.
Won’t send, Failed, Waiting on you, or Needs your OK Jounce is holding it. The results page says why and what clears it. See Why did my send fail?.
Partly sent Some of your list got it and some didn’t. See Why does my email say Partly sent?.
Canceled Someone in your workspace stopped it. The results page says how many got it first. See Cancel a scheduled or sending email.
Sent It went out. Read on.

Email statuses lists every label.

If it says Sent

The email left Jounce. Open it and look at Delivered on its card: the share of the mail that no mailbox refused. If that share is close to 100%, the email arrived, so the question is which folder it’s in.

Ask one or two readers to search their mail for the subject line. It’s usually in spam or, in Gmail, under Promotions. Why did my email land in spam or promotions? says what to change.

Didn’t get your own copy? Jounce sends to your list, not to you. Add your own address as a subscriber, or send yourself a test from the editor. See Send a test email.

If Delivered is far below the count

The count at the top of the results page is how many people the email went to. When only some of your list got it, the count says so, such as 120 of 300 people for a canceled email.

A partly sent email also has a warning box at the top that says why. Otherwise the gap is bounces, counted under Bounced.

People Jounce skipped before sending aren’t in the count at all. Before you send, the Recipients step says how many it will skip. A big skipped number usually means an imported list with many dead or opted-out addresses. See Why is Jounce skipping some people?.

Note The numbers keep settling for a day or two after a send. Some bounces arrive late, so Delivered can fall a little after the first evening.
