Why does my email come from a jouncemail.com address?
Short answer
Your workspace hasn’t authenticated its own domain, so Jounce sends from your business name on its own sending domain. Replies still reach the workspace owner’s sign-in email; to send from an address at your domain, authenticate it on the Sending page.
Your workspace is sending via Jounce, which is how every workspace starts. The email went out signed and delivered. Your From name is on it, and a reply reaches the workspace owner’s sign-in email.
Why the address looks like that
Until a domain of yours is authenticated, Jounce can’t send from your own address. Mailbox providers distrust mail that claims to be from your domain without your domain’s digital signature. So Jounce sends from an address on its own sending domain instead.
The address is made from your From name and ends in send.jouncemail.com, such as calpreserving@send.jouncemail.com. If another business already has that name, yours gets a number, such as studio-2. A workspace with no From name yet sends from a short code instead, until it has one. On the Sending page, the From card’s badge reads Sent via Jounce.
Send from your own address instead
- Select your avatar at the top right and choose Sending.
- Under Your own sending domain, type your domain in the Domain field. Then select Authenticate domain. The card lists the records to add to your domain’s DNS.
- Add the records where your domain is managed, then select Verify. The badge reads Authenticated once they’re confirmed.
From then on, your emails come from hello@ at your domain. See The address your emails come from for what changes, including where replies go.
If you signed up with a free mailbox
A domain like gmail.com or yahoo.com belongs to its provider. So you can’t add records to it, and Jounce can’t authenticate it. To send from your own address, you need a domain you own. Until then, your emails keep going out via Jounce, with your From name on them.
If you’re an Editor
Only Admins and Managers can add a domain. The card tells you: Admins and managers set up a sending domain. Ask one of them to set it up. Once it is authenticated, every member’s sends come from it.
