Why can’t I resubscribe someone?
Short answer
Because consent is theirs to give. Send them a link to one of your forms, and when they fill it in and click the confirmation email they’re back on your list.
You added someone and Jounce said … is already on your list, and unsubscribed. Only they can resubscribe, through one of your forms. Or an import left them Unsubscribed. Nothing changed for them, and nothing is broken.
An unsubscribe is a promise Jounce made to that person: no more emails from you unless they ask again. That’s why no button in Jounce lifts it, even when they unsubscribed by mistake. The way back is theirs to take, and it’s short.
Bring them back
- Share a link to one of your forms with them. Any published form works, and it doesn’t need to ask new signups to confirm. See Share your page’s link.
- They fill it in. Jounce emails them the confirmation link. Ask them to use it soon. The link stops working after a while, and filling in the form again and again doesn’t send a fresh one each time.
- They select Yes, subscribe me in that email. Their status turns to Subscribed, and your next send reaches them.
If they say they never unsubscribed
Only three things record an unsubscribe: pressing Yes, unsubscribe, their mail app’s own Unsubscribe button, or a tool you connected through the developer API. A security tool that opens links can’t do it. See The unsubscribe link and page. Either way, the path back is the same form.
