Bounces, complaints, and unsubscribes
What Jounce does when a mailbox rejects your email, someone marks it as spam, or someone unsubscribes, and who can come back.
- Bounces, complaints, and unsubscribesThree things take a person off the list Jounce sends to: a mailbox that refuses an email for good, a spam complaint, or an unsubscribe. A full inbox or a mailbox that asks Jounce to try later isn’t a bounce, so it changes nothing for that person.
- The unsubscribe link and pageEvery campaign and automation email ends with a link to unsubscribe. It opens a plain page that asks Unsubscribe from these emails?, and the Yes, unsubscribe button takes the person off your list.
- Dead addressesA dead address is a mailbox that refused mail for good from any sender on Jounce. Jounce skips it in every send, from every workspace, and a form signup can’t bring it back.
- Coming back after an unsubscribe, a bounce, or a complaintSomeone who unsubscribed comes back by filling in one of your forms and clicking the confirmation link. Someone who bounced usually comes back when you change their address to a working one; a spam complaint can’t be lifted.
- Why can’t I resubscribe someone?Because consent is theirs to give. Send them a link to one of your forms, and when they fill it in and click the confirmation email they’re back on your list.
- Why does it say someone bounced?Their mailbox refused your email for good, usually because the address has a typo or no longer exists. To protect your sending reputation, Jounce stopped sending to it, and changing the address on their page brings most people back.
- Why does it say Marked as spam? The person pressed Report spam in their mail app, and their mail provider told Jounce. Jounce stopped sending to them for good, and their status reads Complained.
