Why won’t Jounce accept my domain?
Short answer
Check what you typed: use a domain like yourbrand.com, or a subdomain like news.yourbrand.com. If another Jounce workspace has the domain, remove it there first.
Nothing was saved, so there is nothing to undo. The message under the card says what happened.
The messages
- Enter a domain like yourbrand.com. means the field was empty, or what you typed isn’t a domain. Jounce drops parts like https:// before it checks.
- That’s one of Jounce’s own domains. means you typed a Jounce address, like jounce.com or a name ending in myjounce.com. Use a domain you own.
- That domain is set up in another Jounce workspace. means the domain is already in use there. A domain can be in one workspace at a time. If that workspace is yours, remove the domain there first; see Remove your sending domain. If it isn’t, ask a person at Jounce.
- A message that says to try again means the check itself hiccuped. Look at the field, then try again.
- Sending domain setups are capped… means this workspace has tried too many this hour. Nothing changed; try again after the hour turns.
What Jounce accepts
A bare domain: yourbrand.com. A subdomain such as news.yourbrand.com works too; your emails then come from hello@ at that subdomain.
You can leave in https://, www., or anything after a slash; Jounce drops them. If you paste an email address, Jounce drops the part before the @ too.
A word with no dot, or anything with a space in it, won’t go through. A misspelled ending such as .con goes in but is never authenticated, so check the ending before you add it.
Note Jounce can’t authenticate a domain you don’t control, because you can’t add records to it. A free mailbox like gmail.com is the usual case. For those, send through Jounce’s own address instead.
If there is no Domain field
The card reads Admins and managers set up a sending domain. and shows no field. Your role in the workspace is Editor; see Who can change sending settings.
