The sending banner

Short answer

An amber strip at the top means your sending is at risk; red means Jounce paused it, usually for bounces or spam complaints. Its link reads Review your audience, or Get help when a person at Jounce paused it or the pause carried over from another workspace.

The banner shows only while Jounce has something to say about your sending. It has two forms: amber while your sending is at risk, red once it is paused.

At risk

An amber banner titled Your sending is at risk. Under it: Too many recent emails are bouncing or being marked as spam. Mailbox providers like Gmail and Yahoo watch for that. If it gets worse, Jounce pauses sending. Your emails keep going out while it shows. See Why does it say Your sending is at risk?

The amber banner at the top of the Emails page, reading Your sending is at risk.

Paused

A red banner titled Sending is paused means Jounce paused sending, and sends wait while it shows. The line under the title says why.

Usually it’s bounces or spam complaints, and the line reads: Too many recent emails bounced or were marked as spam, so Jounce paused sending to protect where your mail lands. Clean up your audience, then write to hello@jounce.com to get sending again. See Why is my sending paused?

Cleaning up your audience means stopping where the addresses behind the pause came from. Get sending again after a pause has the steps. Deleting the bounced and complained subscribers is up to you, because Jounce already skips them.

Two kinds of pause read differently, because bounces didn’t cause them:

  • If a person at Jounce paused the workspace by hand, the banner says Someone at Jounce paused sending on this workspace.
  • If the person who created the workspace already had sending paused elsewhere, it says The person who created this workspace already had sending paused somewhere else. So this one started paused too.

Neither offers Review your audience, because your audience didn’t stop the send. Their link reads Get help and opens Why is my sending paused?.

Review your audience

The banner always has one link. On the amber banner, and on a pause your own sending caused, it reads Review your audience and opens the Audience page.

On the Audience page, the Status menu above the list shows how many people are Bounced and how many Complained. Pick one to list them. To see both at once, use Filter. See Filter your subscribers.

Where it shows

The banner sits at the top of the page, under the top bar. It shows on Emails, Forms, Automations, Audience, and Analytics, and on every Settings page. It stays as you move between them. Every member of the workspace sees it, whatever their role.

A page that fills the whole window doesn’t show it:

  • the email and form editors, and the automation builder
  • the send steps and the page after you send
  • an email’s results page and an automation’s insights page
  • the screens where you start an email, a form, or an automation

Help doesn’t show it either.

There is no close button. The banner leaves when the state changes. A warning clears on its own. Only a person at Jounce can end a pause. Sending warnings and pauses explains what moves it.
