Start a Zap when someone joins, unsubscribes, or lands in a segment
Short answer
In Zapier, choose Jounce as the Zap’s trigger and pick Subscriber Created, Subscriber Unsubscribed, or Subscriber Added to Segment. Jounce tells the Zap the moment it happens, and the person’s details go to the next step.
When you’re done, the Zap runs on its own each time the event happens in Jounce. You need Jounce connected to Zapier first; see Connect Jounce to Zapier.
- On Zapier, create a Zap and choose Jounce as the trigger app.
- Pick the event: Subscriber Created, Subscriber Unsubscribed, or Subscriber Added to Segment.
- Choose your Jounce connection. It carries your workspace’s name.
- For Subscriber Added to Segment, pick a segment in the Segment field or leave it empty. The field’s own line says it: Leave empty to trigger for every segment.
- Test the trigger. Zapier shows your latest subscribers as samples, so you can see the fields.
- Add the action in the other app and map the fields. They include Email, First name, Last name, Status, Source, Event time, Changed by, Changed via, and Unverified fields, plus Segment name for the segment trigger.
- Turn the Zap on.
What happens next
- Jounce tells the Zap the moment the event happens. There is no schedule to wait for.
- Subscriber Created fires when someone is added through a form, by hand, or through another app or Zap. A CSV import doesn’t fire it, no matter how many people it adds. Nor does an update to someone already in your audience.
- Changed by says
publicwhen the change came through one of your forms, where anyone can type in any address. A Filter step on it keeps those out of a Zap that updates records you already have in another app. Changed by and Changed via are empty in the test samples, and when Jounce has no record of who made the change. - Unverified fields lists names and custom fields that one of your forms
filled in and no one has changed since, like
custom_fields.company. Map those into another app only into fields that are empty there, so a form can’t overwrite what that app already knows. - Turn the Zap off and Jounce stops telling it. Turn it on again and it starts from that moment. What happened in between isn’t sent later.
Next step
To act on the other side, see Add subscribers to Jounce from another app. A developer who needs bounces or complaints uses Webhooks instead.
